Simple Ways to Keep Your Business Thriving in 2021
Many of my clients are feeling burned out from struggling to keep their businesses afloat during the pandemic.
When you’re focused on “putting out fires,” it can be hard to think about the future, let alone thriving and growing.
Keeping track of all the elements of your business might not be easy when you’re distracted and stressed, but you must take a breath, hit pause, and figure out how your business is currently doing and which areas need improvement. For example, you might scale back on social media to free up more time for paying clients.
Now is a great time to review your original business plan and think about any necessary changes that need to be made. You must constantly adapt to grow your business successfully.
Here are some simple ways to keep your business thriving in 2021.
Keep Track of Expenses
Start your business review by looking at your income and expenses.
Where is all your money going exactly? Are there places where you could cut back? How much money are you able to spend on improvements?
If you find that the cost of rent is eating away at your funds, then consider relocating your business space. The money you save could be allocated to another part of your business that needs a cash boost.
Staying on top of your business finances is essential to know where your money is being spent and making sure there aren’t any errors. You can then update your business goals accordingly based on what you have available to spend and where you plan to take your business in the future.
Look After Your Staff
Staff welfare is key to maintaining a happy and productive work environment. Exhausted, stressed, and unhappy employees are not conducive to a good work situation.
Be approachable, understanding, and flexible to their welfare and any personal problems they might have. By demonstrating a sympathetic attitude, your team members are more likely to feel appreciated as employees and want to continue working for you.
Also, small gestures like taking the whole team out for dinner or increasing their salaries can be encouraging to show that you appreciate them.
Consider the Location of Your Business
Where your business is located matters, and ideally, you want to be somewhere your target consumer can easily access and to attract new business.
Your storefront should be inviting to attract consumers to come in. If your headquarters is looking a little tired, then do what you can to freshen it up. Work with what you have to avoid the cost of relocating your entire business.
Make a detailed plan if you decide to renovate your building and contact a construction company, electrician, plumber, and architect. Intense construction projects will most likely need the assistance of a crane hire company like Freo Group who would be able to deal with any lifting of heavy materials.
As long as you plan in advance and are still able to operate your business while the renovation takes place, then the renovation should not be too disruptive.
Maintain a Positive Online Presence
Keeping up to date with your business page on social media is important to remain relevant. You also need an easy-to-navigate website with all the key information about your business, who you serve, and the results they get.
A study by the Science and Technology Department at Missouri University found that users take less than two-tenths of a second to make a decision about a website before moving on, so you must capture their attention quickly.
An updated Google page is helpful so consumers can do a search to find your location, operating hours, and social media accounts. At least 54% of consumers use social media to find out more information about a particular business. Your website must be mobile friendly so your customers can easily make safe transactions on their cellphones too.
Boost Your Online Traffic
If you’re not generating much business through your website, then you might need the assistance of an SEO company. They specialize in determining whether your website is easily accessible through an online search engine using keywords.
Ideally, you want to be featured on the front page of the online search engine (ie, Google) because most people generally just click within the first few options. Around 92% of users click on options within the first Google page compared to a mere 6% who venture towards the second page of results.
With the help of an SEO company, you can increase user traffic toward your website and hopefully boost sales.
Provide Excellent Customer Service
Providing optimum customer service to create loyal customers will increase sales. Be approachable and friendly as a business but also willing to listen to critical feedback.
If a consumer is unhappy, then demonstrate that you’re interested in resolving the problem and finding a solution. Responding to customer emails and comments on your business page on social media will build a rapport between you and your followers and show you’re willing to resolve any problems or questions they have.
The more positive customer feedback you can establish, the more likely these customers will then recommend your business to other people, thus boosting your brand awareness.
