Life Editor Weekend Preview: Welcome to the Retreat!
If I had to assign a theme to this month, it would have to be “Surviving When Things Go Wrong.”
My recent Life Editor Weekend live event was a perfect example of this. A dozen tiny things went wrong as I was getting ready to host the retreat: tech issues, last-minute cancelations, etc.
But the biggest obstacle was my mouth. No, I didn’t get into a screaming match with the hotel staff or tell someone to jump off a cliff.
On the first day of the retreat, I had emergency oral surgery that resulted in me getting 8 stitches in my inner lip.
I’ll spare you the gory details, but I was in the dentist’s chair in the morning and on the road to Lakeside Inn by lunchtime.
I had a choice to make: Should I be a professional or an amateur?
Ladies were flying in from all over the country, and I didn’t want to disappoint them. I didn’t want to disappoint me either! I decided to “put on my big girl panties” and lead the event no matter how painful my stitches were.
And it was fine, really. I didn’t die, and everyone had a fabulous time learning about life editing. There are only a few places in the videos where I look uncomfortable, but who cares?
I hosted my first live event–that’s huge!
I’m super proud of what we accomplished at the retreat and how I was able to maintain my energy and professionalism despite feeling like crap.
That’s what being an entrepreneur is all about. You must choose to be a leader even when you don’t feel like it.
