Why You Must Stop Frankenstein-ing Your Business

One of the first business coaches I worked with had this knack for inspiring her clients to step up as the professional leaders they were meant to be.

Her advice motivated me to take big action before I felt “ready” and helped me reach and maintain 6-figures before my second year in business.

For the longest time, I cobbled together my business with various programs as if I were building some kind of monster: a payment processor, a course portal, an email program, a contact organizer, a webinar platform, a call scheduler, and more.

Of course, none of the programs worked well together since they were all made by different companies. Everything was glitchy, and I even had to pay for another program to act as a go-between to get them to talk to each other.

Not the professional image I was going for. I spent half my time fixing problems and answering angry customer emails.

I call this mistake FRANKENSTEIN-ING your business.

My coach had been (lovingly!) encouraging me to dump all the various programs and get an all-in-one customer relationship management system, or CRM. I currently use Kajabi (aff link).

I finally took her advice when I realized I was being nickel-and-dimed to death by these other subscriptions and PAYING MORE than what a well-designed CRM would cost per month.

Everything fell into place once I had a single system to organize all the parts of my business. It felt like I became a true professional overnight, and I gained new confidence as a coach and business owner.

I was reminded of my rough start this week when one of my clients said, “I wish I had just gotten Kajabi when you first mentioned it.”

This is after more than a year of struggling to get her website and numerous plugins and programs to play well together. Meanwhile, time was passing by without her releasing new offerings for her potential clients.

It stinks when you realize you’ve wasted time, money, and energy trying to save a few bucks by getting the cheaper options. You’re a beginner or solo-preneur, so why haul out the big guns?

It’s like the people who buy “fast fashion” clothes that are so poorly made they have to buy replacements every year. They’d be better off purchasing a few well-made classic items that last (and save money in the long run!).

Are you ready to level up?

Try Kajabi absolutely free for 30 days and see why it’s the best CRM for business owners.

You’ll also get a FREE 90-minute Kajabi Jumpstart Call with me ($297 value) when you start your free trial of Kajabi.
