In my final corporate job more than 13 years ago, I worked really, really hard for the money.

• I dragged myself out of bed at 4:30 in the morning so I’d have time to get ready and then do my 90-minute commute (with 1 car and 2 trains) to be sitting pretty at my desk at 7:00 am sharp.
• I wore high-heels, a suit, and a full face of makeup every day for years while spending much of my paycheck on work clothes.
• I was forced to job hop to get more money every year or so because no company would give me a raise or promotion even if I worked overtime.

It was exhausting! Working a regular 9-to-5 job depleted my energy and snuffed out the light and hopefulness inside me.
