How to Take Fridays Off Forever
I remember how exciting it was as a kid to get an unexpected Friday off.
Maybe it was a teacher planning day or a holiday, but we had been blessed with a 3-day weekend and that meant time to sleep in and watch “The Price Is Right” in my jammies.
As an adult, my old employer would sometimes have “Summer Fridays” that were really just half days off. And if we were good corporate minions, we might be able to wear (gasp!) jeans.
Having no work or school on a Friday was such a mind-blowing rarity, like spotting Bigfoot at the bus spot.
Now that I’m my own boss, Fridays don’t have the same sparkle, probably because I absolutely love what I do, but also because I can (and do) take Fridays off quite regularly.
Imagine how your life would be different if you had the freedom to do whatever you want on Fridays.
- Maybe you’d finish writing your novel.
- Maybe you’d let your kid play hooky and go to the amusement park together.
- Maybe you’d drink your coffee on the porch watching the sunrise and appreciating how good your life is.
Yesterday, I was telling my coach how happy I am that I don’t have to live in the freezing Mid West anymore like I did in my childhood.
“Yep, being your own boss gives you choices.” he said.
That’s one of my favorite words . . . choices.
I think I’ll end this post and go curl up with a good book. It’s my favorite way to spend a Friday.
