3 Awesome Benefits of a Mastermind Group
Years ago when I started my business, I remember reading a bunch of articles stressing the importance of mastermind groups.
At first, I didn’t understand what “mastermind” meant. Wasn’t that a retro board game where you make patterns with colored pegs?
But I soon learned that a mastermind is a group of people who come together to share ideas to achieve a common goal.
If you’re considered one mind, then a mastermind is a collection of many minds.
You might be in a mastermind group of entrepreneurs who are growing their businesses. Or maybe a group of health buffs who are trying to get into the best shape of their lives. Or maybe a group of moms who are learning how to be better parents.
I’ve been in several different mastermind groups, and I’m always amazed at the smart ideas that pop up when women work together. We can do more as a team than we can alone!
One of the things I’m most proud of for my upcoming live event, Life Editor Weekend is that we’re creating a mastermind group of 50 Life Editors!
For 4 days here in sunny Orlando, Florida, we’ll be dreaming and scheming as we edit our lives together in an atmosphere of fun, creativity, and mutual respect.
A mastermind group can help you reach new heights of success that would be out of your grasp on your own.
Here are 3 awesome benefits of a mastermind group.
You See Other Unique Viewpoints
You have a limited understanding of the world based on where you live, how you were raised, your beliefs, your experiences, and more. When you approach a problem such as “How do I earn more money?” you’ll only be able to pull solutions from what you already know.
A mastermind group opens you up to viewpoints of a completely different nature.
Your group members might live on the other side of the world, have more or less experience than you, be younger or older, come from a different culture, or have personality traits that challenge your old ways of thinking.
You Choose Bigger Goals
Have you ever done an exercise video in your home? They’re fun and convenient; however, you’ve probably noticed that you’ll work out harder and longer if you take an exercise class at the gym.
Why is that? We instinctively choose bigger goals and push ourselves more when we know other people are watching.
A mastermind group creates instant accountability. Your teammates will let you know if your goals seem wimpy. It feels easier to take on complicated projects when you know they’ve got your back.
You’re Supported When Things Get Tough
Let’s face it, no matter how much we hustle while editing our lives, sometimes we’ll fail. You might get sick, or miss a goal, or make a mistake.
You’re a human being, and it’s normal to face obstacles and challenges.
A mastermind group will support you when you’re feeling lousy about yourself. They’ll remind you of all the progress you’ve made and that you can always bounce back and try again.
I’ve seen too many people give up on their dreams simply because they didn’t have anyone supporting them. Don’t let this be you!
