Mondays have always been my favorite day of the week.
There’s nothing like a fresh start, a bright beginning, or as my kindred spirit Anne of Green Gables says, “a new day with no mistakes in it . . . yet.”
I was born on a Monday (back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth), so maybe that’s why I’m charmingly chipper and delightfully uptight.
Maybe you’re more of the Garfield variety, always seeing Mondays through a cloud of disappointment.
- Another week at your dreadful 9-to-5 job.
- Another reminder from your bank account that you’re not a millionaire.
- Another exhausting day like the one before that . . . and the one before that . . .
You have permission to think any way you want about this first day of the week. Go ahead and proudly wear your “I hate Mondays” badge for all to see.
But if you’re tired of seeing Mondays as a burden and not the exquisite gift they are, then perhaps you can try something different today.
When you feel overwhelmed, beat down, or burned out, just ask yourself, “What would Sage do?”
Perhaps I’d create a strong boundary to protect my mental health. Or focus on one small doable task instead of a hundred. Maybe I’d make a cup of tea and go hide someplace quiet for a while.
Whether you adopt my persona for the next 24 hours or continue to complain to anyone in listening distance, remember that the CHOICE IS YOURS.
You are responsible for what you accept in your life . . . and what you decide to change.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to eat an entire pan of lasagne. Garfield may have been on to something.
