Spring Clean Your Life
Thank goodness it’s spring!
The weather might be mild all year round where I live, but I’m so ready for the fresh start that spring always brings. How ‘bout you?
You can read other blogs for advice on spring cleaning your house. I’ll do the dishes and laundry, but I procrastinate on vacuuming as long as I can (is that a dust bunny or a rat?).
I recently did a total wardrobe makeover, so I guess that counts as spring cleaning.
Here are a few ways I’m spring cleaning other areas of my life:
- Organize my workspace. I’ve been more diligent about keeping my desk in order (not an easy task when you have as many interests as I do). Since I work from home, my workspace needs to be clear so I can concentrate. I also bought a pack of my favorite pens and reorganized my office supplies.
- Join a club or group. There’s a Buddhist temple in my neighborhood that I’ve been meaning to visit for months. I could use some inner peace, and I promise to attend a sitting soon. I feel better when I connect with people in my community.
- Clear out the clothes. As I mentioned before, I got rid of half my wardrobe including a lot of bland neutral-colored clothes. Now my outfits are as bright and sunny as the weather. I’m wearing brighter makeup too.
- Bring the outside in. I have a vase of flowers on my desk next to my laptop right now. It’s an inexpensive way enjoy a bit of nature while I’m working. I also open the windows so I can hear the birds and get some fresh air.
- Dump the old ideas. The world feels full of possibilities when spring has finally sprung! This season, I’m letting go of old ways of thinking that have been holding me back. My personal goals are ambitious, but that doesn’t make them unattainable.
What are you cleaning up in your life this spring?

Dump your excuses, transform your habits, and become the most productive person you know.
When the madness of work subsides I can’t wait to start reading “The No Brainer wardrobe” as I really want to do some physical wardrobe cleaning! Buddhist Temple sounds fascinating- that’s something that’s always intrigued me as well!
My closet doesn’t put me in a bad mood anymore, so you should read the book!
When I lived in Chicago, I had a temple I went to for meditation retreats but I’ve been lazy about finding one here in SF. And I have no excuse because there’s a large Buddhist population here. I like how the temples are open to anyone regardless of religion, because really, couldn’t we all use some enlightenment?
My biggest spring things are opening my window and spending 5-10 minutes in the sunlight. They both improve my mood. I definitely need to do some clutter clearing though.
I figure that if I clean up my clutter within the season of spring, it still counts. Now I can stall for a few more months.
I had the strangest dream the other night, starring a ginormous purple transparent My Little Pony…… 😮
Spring always feels so good and energizing. While we started our spring cleaning in December, we’re still doing it. There’s lots to do yet and it feels great!
Creepy! So, was it a night-MARE? 🙂
OMG I loved MLP!! I had the Pony Palace estate with a pool I’d put water in hahaha! I totally agree about spring cleaning your life! I love chucking out the old and bringin in the new! Feng Shui. Flowers bring such a pretty element to any space. Great tips; I will have to re-visit later to read your links!
Ooo, I love reading about Feng Shui techniques. It’s amazing how making small changes to your environment can have such a big impact.
Yea, ponies! I don’t care if it’s a little girls’ show. They make me happy. 🙂
Haha I used to be a big fan of My Little Pony! That’s awesome! Your timing is always impeccable as I just started my spring cleaning in my room last weekend. I have been focusing on just the physical cleaning out of my old crap and clothes in my room but you make really great points that it is the perfect for a spiritual and emotional re-start as well 🙂 I think that my biggest spring re-start goal is to spend more time outside, enjoying the sun and fresh air and exploring new things. I work so many hours inside that I rarely get to enjoy fresh air and sunshine and I think it is time to change that 🙂
I want to hear about that conference!! Hope you had a great time!
I spend way too many hours inside. Thankfully, I have to take Skyla out for her walks, so I do get a little sunshine each day.
I’m working on a post recapping the conference. It gave me so many ideas about living my life to the fullest.
Yay I’m looking forward to it! 🙂
