3 Urgent Reasons to Start an eCommerce Business

If there was ever a perfect time to start an eCommerce business, this is it!

The pandemic shuttered millions of brick-and-mortar business, lockdown kept everyone at home in front of their phones and computers, and no one wants to interact with people in-person.

In fact, I did all my holiday shopping online this year, and it was way more jolly than fighting the crowds at the mall like I used to do.

An eCommerce business is one that sells goods online through a dedicated sales website. You already know the process of browsing store websites, scrolling through listings, adding products to your online cart, and then checking out with a card or PayPal.

My coaching business has always been online, and I’m grateful for the technology that helps me reach more people all over the world.

No matter what you’re selling, it’s imperative in this day and age to have an online headquarters (website). Got physical products? Set up a good shipping system through Shiply so your customers receive their orders quickly and efficiently. No excuses about needing a physical storefront anymore.

Ready to get online? Here are 3 urgent reasons to start an eCommerce business.

The Future is Online

In the not-too-distant past, if you wanted to buy something, then you had to visit the shopping mall or random collection of stores in a strip mall.

Nowadays, most everyone prefers to buy online. It’s convenient, often cheaper, and it requires no travel to get just one little thing.

Being able to buy anything in the world at the click of a mouse or a tap of a screen is a wonderful indulgence. Plus, you can shop any time of day or night. In my Startup In 60 program, we call this passive income or “selling while you sleep.”

The future is here right now, and it’s online. Online shopping will eventually become the main (perhaps only) way to buy anything. This new year, resolve to get your online shop set up ASAP!

You’ll Make Money

This reason is obvious. You should start an eCommerce business to make money!

Your business might not bring in a ton of money right from the start, which is why I tell my clients to consider it a “side hustle” that they can grow over time while still collecting a paycheck from their day jobs.

Work on your marketing, ensure your SEO is up to date, provide good quality products, and offer excellent customer service so your customers learn to trust your online business.

It’s Simple To Start

Many of my clients delay starting their online businesses because they think it will take a lot of time, energy, and knowhow they don’t have.

That’s precisely why I designed Startup In 60 to guide them from idea to fully functioning business in just 60 days, whether they have 60 minutes or 60 seconds per day to work on their businesses.

Online businesses are simple to set up, really! But you still must put in the work and make consistent progress.
