Before Life Coaching

I am a nature photographer, and before working with Sage I had just an idea about creating a photography mentoring service with no clue how to make it happen.

I’d just started blogging and was looking for a way to start generating an income through my website. I knew there were many people who have DSLR cameras that didn’t know how to use them and that I could show them how.

What I didn’t know was how to structure such a service and make a business out of it. Where to even start was a mystery!

Now I’ve Got My Own Business!

Now I have a fully-functional photography mentoring business! My debut package is called Demystifying Your DSLR Camera where I teach clients one-on-one how to use their specific DSLR camera on manual mode instead of auto mode.

I went from initial brainstorm of my idea to a paying client in less than 2 months. And I’ve doubled the subscribers on my email list.

I’ve created worksheets, client forms, and a camera guidebook during this time that is used in my new mentoring service. Without Sage’s help, I would have been lost shortly after the brainstorming. She helped guide my steps and filled me in on some of the tricks of the trade.

I know I wouldn’t be this far ahead if I had tried to do it alone.

What I’ve Learned

There will always be someone who has been down the road ahead of me and can help me navigate the obstacles in my path. Thank goodness!

Also, I’ve learned that I need to listen to that small voice inside me more often. And I need to make sure I don’t burn myself out by over-doing it. (Still hard not to do.)

When I find myself getting overwhelmed I remind myself what Sage has told me: this isn’t a race. I can slow down and be easier on myself.

Working With Sage

Sage is a fountain of knowledge—and she’s fun, too!

She has a lot of really great ideas that have taken my business to the next level. She shares freely and is honest about her experiences in business. She’s empathic and makes me feel like I can do this!

I’m so impressed by how much you’ve produced, Erika! All those quality freebies and launching a whole mentoring package. I remember when it was just an idea during the beta round of Life Editing for Beginners. It’s so awesome to see you out in the world rocking it and hearing about each and every new client!

This is inspiring! I love to read about results of a program or a coaching experience. I also love Erika’s approach with her business. I haven’t seen a guide for learning a type of camera before. It’s genius though, because if I am like any other woman, I like to buy the latest tech, but I’m not always knowledge of all the little details that make a great photograph. I also don’t want to go to school to learn photography! Great post and it’s so nice to have met you both!

Aw, thanks Lisa! Sage helped me a lot and was just what I needed to get my idea off the ground.

I’m so glad to have met you, too! I’m sure I’ll see you around. 🙂
