Law of Attraction Playlist

Sure, we all understand that our lives are formed by the choices we make.

For example, if you keep dating losers then you’ll never be happy, and if you decide to move across the country then your life will be very different than if you stayed safe in your home town.

But what if I told you that something as simple as the music you listen to also determines the course of your life?

It’s true!

We absorb the lyrics of the music we listen to like a sponge sucking up water. Even if you don’t consciously register what the artist is singing, your subconscious mind will file it away.

Eventually, the lyrics will alter your frame of mind. If you listen to positive, upbeat music, you’ll start living in a positive, happy way. And likewise, angry, depressing lyrics will make you see the world in a negative way.

This is the law of attraction in action. Like attracts like, so the energy (or in this case music) that you bring into your life will continue to attract that same kind of energy.

I want you to attract only positive, life-affirming energy so you can achieve your biggest dreams!

Here are some of my favorite songs about the law of attraction and how we have the power within us to change our lives.

“Give It Up to Me” by Shakira

You can have it all
Anything you want you can make it yours
Anything you want in the world, anything you want in the world
Give it up to me
Nothing too big or small
Anything you want you can make it yours
Anything you want in the world, anything you want in the world
Give it up to me
What you get is exactly what you give
Never really know until you try
We’re so ahead of this

“You Get What You Give” by the New Radicals

But when the night is falling
And you cannot find the light
If you feel your dream is dying
Hold tight
You’ve got the music in you
Don’t let go
You’ve got the music in you
One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
Don’t give up
You’ve got a reason to live
Can’t forget you only get what you give

“The Climb” by Miley Cyrus

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

“You Gotta Be” by Des’ree

You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough
You gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day

“I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash

Look all around, there’s nothin’ but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin’ but blue skies
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day

“Size Matters” by Natasha Bedingfield

Most people would cite Natasha’s other popular law of attraction song, “Unwritten,” but I like this one better. One of my favorite songs ever!

Size matters (size matters)
But not how you think
I’m talking ’bout your heart
And what you do with it
The more seeds you plant
The more flowers will grow
So
Big up the love ’till it overflows

“4 Minutes” by Madonna and Justin Timberlake

If you want it
You’ve already got it
If you thought it
It better be what you want
If you feel it
It must be real just
Say the word and
Imma give you what you want

“Ordinary Day” by Vanessa Carlton

And he said take my hand
Live while you can
Don’t you see your dreams lie right in the palm of your hand
In the palm of your hand

Here’s another one from the old school – “I Got the Power” by Snap

Also the theme from “Fame” is an awesome upleveler and attractor.

Love it! Old school songs are the best. 🙂

These are great songs! You’re so right about the way music affects us. I’ve noticed that on cloudy days, I better play upbeat music, or I’m going to have a really miserable day! Music can totally change my mood, and turn my day around. When I’m feeling really down, I listen to “Firework” by Katy Perry.

Hey Emily! Thanks for stopping by. Upbeat music really works when I’m in a funk. And I’m a HUGE Katy Perry fan. “Firework” is an awesome anthem for getting off our butts. 🙂

I’ve learned the truth of this and am now fussy about what I listen to. It does affect me, so I want it to be constructive. Good post.
Actually, this could have been a great post if you’d added a booty shot. 🙂

Hahaha! Next time I’ll add the booty shot! Sorry I haven’t been on your blog in a while. I’ve been traveling for a week and a half. But I do love your outfit posts when I have time to read them. Your creativity makes me smile, Ally. 🙂

Thanks, Sage. I find being actively creative is an antidote to the unpleasant stress in my life. When I’m blue and thinking of a cure, I ponder, “What Would Sage Do?”

You know, you are so incredibly right! I have noticed that I choose my music based on my mood. I listen to angsty 90s alternative/grunge when I’m in a bad mood or stressed or anxious or sad… I listen to fun pop songs and 80s music when I’m in a good mood. I know the lyrics (especially in the alternative music) play right into that and I think it’s a great idea to create a laws of attraction playlist! That’ll be a fun project to take on soon!

You know, sometimes I fall back into listening to music that isn’t “good” for me. What can I say? When I’m sad, I want to listen to sad music. But for the most part, I try to listen to uplifting stuff. It’s the only way I’ll get things done around here. I would love to know what’s in your playlist!

As a non-music fan (*people are so confused by this!*) I do agree that music shapes our thoughts. Considering how often songs get stuck in our heads, we might consider how often those lyrics are something we care to keep thinking.

I know the music I do listen to tends to be voiceless or at least have messages I agree with in the music. I prefer silence or leaving the tv on low in the background to music most of the time. I’m also more into podcast listening than music listening these days. I learn a lot more that way.

    • Sage Grayson on November 19, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Haha, I’m one of those confused people. I seem to have a song stuck in my head at all times. I listen to classical or instrumental jazz when I’m working. Hearing lyrics when I’m reading something is too difficult. But I also like white noise. There used to be a website that played “restaurant noise” like you were sitting in a busy cafe. But the website disappeared, so I’m still looking for the perfect background noise.
