This is a post in The Sweet Life interview series where I interview an inspirational woman who has made her life sweet. Please say hello to Charlotte Duzong!
Welcome! Please introduce yourself and your business.
Thank you for having me! I am Charlotte Duzong, an Arubian girl, living in The Netherlands with my two small children Kate (6 years) and Spencer (4 years), my partner Jan-Willem, and our dog Beaxa. I am a Mom Entrepreneur and love to inspire and coach busy, purpose-driven mompreneurs to create successful home-based business, live their lives with purpose, and make a difference in the world.
How do you help women make their lives sweet?
I help women make their lives sweet by helping them create a well-designed lifestyle so they can pursue their business dreams, make more money in their business, AND raise their children with ease.
Running a home-based business and a family at the same time is a stressful full time job. As moms and entrepreneurs, we often have only little slots of time during the day to devote to our businesses.
Whether they are starting a business or taking their businesses to the next level while raising their families, with my life-changing coaching programs I help mompreneurs organize their busy schedules efficiently so they can manage their family and business lives without the stress and overwhelm.
What led you to start your business?
When I started my home-based business about six years ago, I thought I had it all! Now I have the freedom to work whenever, wherever, and with whomever I want to. I am my own boss!
Very soon after that, though, reality struck. I had no time. There was never enough time to do anything. I did care for my children, they were my highest priorities. But the household chores, going out with my friends, spending time with my partner, or focusing on my business were activities I really had no time for.
With two kids under the age of two, I was overwhelmed, exhausted, and restless most of the time. Every day I was walking around with no particular goal or direction. Just doing what needed to be done, which was a lot….
As my to-do list was getting bigger, my business dreams were getting smaller and nearly faded away. I felt drained, undervalued, and trapped in the everyday life. I wanted to give up on my dreams.
I decided to turn my life around and started looking at HOW I was running my family and business life. I found ways to work efficiently and have more time for the things that really matter to me. Since then I was able to take my business to the next level.
What does an average day look like for you?
On an average day I wake up at 5:00 am and have one hour to myself. I call it my Magic Hour. I meditate, journal, visualize my day, and get my body moving. Then I get my kids ready for school, I make breakfast, and prepare their lunch bags. After I dropped them at school, my workday starts with my Creative Power Hours. I write content for my blog, my online programs, interviews (like this one), and I do coaching sessions.
In the morning I am the most focused and productive. In the afternoon I pick up my children from school, we play, paint, read, make whatever they like (making collage bookmarks is totally in). After dinner I read them bedtime stories and then work for an hour and plan my next day.
What makes your life sweet?
I love creativity, brainstorming ideas, and creating something beautiful out of nothing. I love spending time with my children, they are my inspiration. Knowing who I am and who I want to be makes life sweet and exciting. Working from home has given me the freedom to create a well-designed lifestyle that allows me to go to Taekwondo lessons with my son, attend a judo match of my daughter, and eat lunch with my partner on Thursday afternoons.
Do you have anything to share with my readers?
