Start Your Day Off Right With This Morning Playlist

Morning Playlist

Music has the ability to change our moods in an instant.

A peppy song from our college days can make us remember happy times, and a song an ex-boyfriend loved can put us in a bad mood just as fast.

When I get up on the wrong side of the bed, I know listening to my uplifting morning playlist will help turn my day around.

Do you have a morning playlist? Your beeping alarm clock and snoring dog don’t count.

Go through your music collection choose songs that will put you in a good mood first thing in the morning.

Be mindful of the songs you select for your playlist. Choose upbeat songs that make you want to get moving, not dreary ballads that make you want to get back under the covers. Those nice…warm…covers…

The lyrics are just as important as the beat. I know some people who never pay attention to the lyrics, but the words of the songs we listen to can subconsciously affect our moods.

Pick songs that are happy, positive, or inspirational. No breakups, deaths, or name-calling.

These are some of my favorite morning playlist songs.

“Fearless” by Taylor Swift

“Another Day” by Jamie Lidell

“Holiday” by Madonna

“A New Day Has Come” by Celine Dion

“Proud” by Heather Small

One of my favorite songs!

“Get On Your Feet” by Gloria Estefan

“Everything” by Michael Buble

“My Love Is Your Love” by Whitney Houston

Your playlist should be at least 10 minutes long to be effective and give your mind time to let go of your bad mood.

Listen to your morning playlist while you shower and get ready, while eating breakfast, or during your commute.

Now, that’s starting your day off on the right note! (Sorry, I couldn’t help it.)

My college days were the early 90s: Nirvana, Alice in Chains, R.E.M. Too dark for my morning jolt. I usually jam to Van Halen, Foo Fighters and Guns ‘n Roses to get my blood pumping before a client meeting!

I love that quote by Hoda Kotb: Music is morning coffee. So true! I don’t have an official playlist, but I should make one. Upbeat, positive music is definitely a great way to start the morning off right. And flipping through radio stations trying to find music instead of talking only makes me angry, so I guess I need to just go ahead and create my morning playlist right now!

I encourage everyone to make uplifting playlists! You’re right that you can’t rely on the radio to play the kind of music you need to stay in a good mood…especially in the morning.

I agree that the music can definitely set the tone for your day. Funny enough though, I actually start off every weekday by listening to my absolute favorite morning show on the radio. It never fails to put a smile on my face and that’s how I set the tone for my day 🙂

As long as it makes you happy in the morning, it works! 🙂
