Singing in the Non-Rain

It doesn’t rain much here in San Francisco. It actually started raining on Sunday after having no rain for months, so Chris and I rushed outside to take some pictures.

Of course, the rain had stopped by the time we hit the street.

Hee hee, it was kind of funny, though. We decided to take pictures anyway. There were some small puddles, but nothing large enough to splash around in.

I bought this raincoat about 2 years ago. It’s my favorite color, and I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw it. I have a habit of buying colored coats. I figure that if I’m going to be covered up to protect myself from the weather, my coat better make me stand out.

I had a bright red winter coat when I lived in Chicago, but I donated it because the temperature doesn’t dip into the negative degrees here (thank goodness). I kept my green raincoat because nothing could make me give up something that makes me so happy.

I even wear this coat when there’s only a slight chance of rain. But oddly, I never carry an umbrella even when it’s already raining buckets.

Why am I so anti-umbrella? Umbrellas tend to turn themselves inside out on me or get ripped out of my hands in a strong wind. I’d say 9 out of 10 times when I’ve used an umbrella in my life, I’ve ended up just as soaked as I would have been if I hadn’t used one.

What color is your raincoat? Are you pro-umbrella or anti-umbrella?
